Developed by Rhabillage for the Municipality of Giurgiu, EDRAH – Economic Development in Relation to Architectural Heritage explored how the city’s architectural heritage could become a resource for sustainable local development. The strategy focused on the Station Street and adjacent plots, where traditional early-20th-century buildings had lost their original functions following the transformation of the area into a pedestrian zone.

EDRAH proposed a bottom-up, interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral approach, bringing together five architecture students, six international specialists and six local experts in architecture, landscape, sociology, history and administration. Their collaboration was structured around a five-day fieldwork workshop and the development of regulatory guidelines addressing rehabilitation, public space and different urban typologies.

Conceived as a methodological experiment, the project aimed to generate a model of good practice that could be adapted to other territories facing similar challenges, while providing an opportunity to train a new generation of specialists.
